African Christmas

I'll spend Christmas and New Years Eve in Namibia! Yep, we'll head to Africa on Dec 14 and spend almost a month in the desert state, travelling by 4x4, bus and plane. So if anyone sells a Tamron SP AF 70-200 mm F/2.8 Di LD for Nikon, please call! I need to get those lions :-)

Chili...

Have you ever cut fresh chili and later on rubbed your eyes with the same hand? Ouuuuch...that just happened to me - well, after about thirty minutes under running water I at least managed to find my way back to the computer, grabbed the mouse and logged on to my blog - now I'll try to type in some stuff...

Yesterday, Urs and I went to the Hallwilerseelauf, a race around a beautiful lake. It started raining while we sat in the train, continued all through the warm-up phase, got really bad at the start and then got a little better during the race. I was invited into the media car, from where I could follow the race and take dry pictures. Urs had a good and steady race. I also cheered for some other friends who where attending too. Urs ran really well and even managed to beat his personal half marathon best. Despite the rain, we really had a blast!

Today, Markus and I went bouldering. There is a huge sand stone wall close to Burgdorf/BE. Sand stone is different to the touch than our Basel lime stone. It is much rougher to your skin but has nice holes and rock formations (see pics). The wall is very difficult to climb, but I managed to do some moves. It's a nice place since it feels like a beach with all its sand and people sitting around, chatting, climbing and eating. We had fun trying hard moves, dynos (Markus...)and difficult lines. After a couple hours my hands hurt so bad I couldn't go on any more. Sand stone just "sands" off your skin - and there we are back with the chili: ever cut fresh chili with sore hands?? Ouuuuuucch....
